Speaking in memory of Dani Karavan, the president said:
“Our beloved Dani Karavan has gone and the grief is so great. He was very dear to Nechama and me. Dani was a shining example of an artist serving the public. Over his years of creativity, Dani insisted on there being a public aspect of his work, and he succeeded. His works were always commissioned by public bodies, always built in public spaces and were always there for the general public. That is how he brought art back to the public, taking it out of the museums with their archeological artifacts and white spaces, giving it to us as a gift forever. We will miss deeply his ever-changing art, and we will miss him deeply. I send a consoling embrace to Hava, Noa, Tamar and Yael, his sister and grandchildren.”
