His father Amir, mother Tali, brother Yagel and his two grandmothers spoke to the president about their unbearable loss.

The president spoke about difficulty of the short mourning period, which will end on Sunday when Shavuot begins, saying, “I know there is no more room for words. I just want you to know that I am weeping with you.”

“We have come from all around the world, and we are still fighting those who seek to exterminate us here. We were the protective shield for our parents and today, our children are the protective shield for us all. As we are here, in relative quiet, all over the country people are running to their protected spaces and our casualties are before our eyes. The IDF has dealt a tremendous blow to them and is doing so constantly, until our enemies understand that we are here and that we are not going anywhere.”
